Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP) is seeking an outstanding individual to further our influential national work in research, policy, and practice on family involvement in children’s education.

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead and manage our family involvement team. In this position, you will work directly with the federally financed Parental Information and Resource Centers (PIRCs), which are building a coordinated national structure for parental involvement in education, and with the HFRP-led Family Involvement Network of Educators (FINE), a national network of practitioners in school and after school programs. You will report directly to the director of HFRP and collaborate with team members as well as with the cross-project complementary learning team, a group focused on researching, strategizing, and disseminating information about nonschool learning supports and policies, including after school programs.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work with a major national player in the family involvement field, leading and further developing our strategy to create more effective research-based policies and practices to support schools and communities in their efforts to increase family involvement in children’s learning and development.

This position will afford you the opportunity to:

  • Conduct and disseminate leading-edge family involvement strategies, evaluations, policy analyses, and professional development tools.
  • Conceive and execute influential research projects.
  • Conceptualize, write, and edit articles.
  • Develop research protocols and gather qualitative data.
  • Present research and evaluation information and results in publications, at conferences, and on site visits.

Basic Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is a strategic thinker with a commitment to using research to inform policy and practice.  Knowledge of current family involvement research, policy, and practice are essential, as is a master’s degree (PhD preferred) in education or a related field.  We are looking for 7 or more years of work experience in education research or a related field, and experience in qualitative data collection and analysis. Also desirable are advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications and database software, as well as knowledge of SPSS and a strong background in quantitative analysis.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent oral and written communication skills; has the ability to work in both collaborative and self-directed situations; and desires to make an impact on family involvement policy and practice at local, state, and national levels. Some travel for presentations and data collection required.
