The Missouri Capitol Report, a blog written by State Senator Jason Crowell and hosted by the Southeast Missourian, sends a message to parents about the importance of being involved in their children’s education as they get ready for the school year to begin.
Citing work from Harvard Family Research Project, Senator Crowell suggests a number of ways that parents can engage in their children’s education, such as staying in touch with teachers, participating in shaping program policy by joining the PTA or parent advisory board, and reading to children at home and talking to them about their school work and homework.
