A new book to help prepare aspiring teachers and other professionals to work more effectively with families of children in elementary school is now available, edited by HFRP director, Heather Weiss, and colleagues and published by Sage Publications. The book provides child development theories and research-based teaching cases that illustrate critical dilemmas in family–school–community relations, especially among families for whom poverty and cultural differences are daily realities. It aims to help readers hone their analytic and problem-solving skills for use in real-world situations with students and their families.
